OAK APRIL 9 2008 AGGREGATED SEARCH FOR NON eBAY AUCTIONS

Postby maggie45 on Thu Apr 10, 2008 3:00 am

I have created an aggregated search.

there is a capability to search both UK and US auctions
There is a capability to search stores like Ecrater, blujay, Etsy, etc. as well as private websites that have asked me to include them. This is so there will be one place for our buyers to search for items that will not include Ebay listings.

First of all, if you want to be included, please send me your URL

Second, the larger problem is getting this search to shoppers and I need help and ideas with that.

SO if you have ideas I'd really appreciate hearing them.

Here is the link to the search engine.

One way is to have this search advertised on the searchable sites - that may or may not feasible depending upon the site since some may not want to risk losing buyers to other sites.

The search

Postby maggie45 on Thu Apr 10, 2008 3:27 am

I already posted it on the ecrater forum and nobody seemed to mind - since they are included and showing up well.

I don't really know why they would mind - it's better for them to be included in it than not - that's for sure. But you never know. It's certainly worth a shot.

Maybe if people who sell on these sites approached the operators they would have more luck, but I'll try.

A great new thread Maggie. Especially re. UK sites as we are limitted. One way to let buyers know is to go through either invoices or paypal account. Start with repeat buyers & sent a polite friendly message. Something along the lines of 'I have moved'...Shops do it all the time with a poster saying where they have moved to. I know that some of my buyers would like to know. ....

Yes, grassroots "I have moved" to all the previous customers is a great idea. I also slap a sticker advertising OLA on my ebay items packing slips.

So...stickers...online fliers people could print out and include with their packing slips...

As that search starts to fill out, we could also try to promote it here by giving it a "special place".

No trips here....but if Fair Shake becomes synonymous with getting information, and we make it "ALL" available here--it might be a place to refer people to for information of ANY kind---buyers or sellers.

EVERYONE, please feel free to use the Fair Shake logo and provide the url in any way you think it might help.

Thanks - I'd appreciate it if you would give it a link here.

I do intend to fix up the page it's on and make it more "friendly looking" now that all the code seems to be working. It's main purpose will be a place for shoppers to go to search. But a link here so that more sellers can be included would be really good.

Linking to Fair Shake

Postby maggie45 on Thu Apr 10, 2008 4:13 am

by the way - I put a link to fair shake on my website and said I'm a member.

Even to someone who has no idea what it is - it looks like a great thing for a seller to be a member of.

I think, as great as this forum is now, when the boycott is over this is going to keep evolving into an even greater place for all of us to continue our community efforts.

Don't forget that Fair Shake is a place for Buyers AND Sellers!!! :o)

Obviously the broadest appeal will be for sellers---but we have a LOT of people involved in the Boycott who never sold a thing--they just don't want to see what is happening to their favorite place to shop. Many people will be wondering where the sellers have gone. Hopefully this forum will be able to give some good guidance to ALL.
