OAK APRIL 9 2008 - BILINGUAL? I NEED YOUR HELP!!

Postby FirmGrip on Thu Apr 10, 2008 3:12 am

I would like someone to help me test the capability of setting this forum up for people to meet who may speak other languages than English. If you know another language (you don't have to be fluent---just enough to be able to help figure out what is and isn't being translated) or know someone who does, and would be willing to help me, please leave me some contact information here. It would just involve popping in once in a while and looking at what had been done, follow some instructions, and tell me what you see and don't see.

Thanks!

Laurel

I'll help

You know I'll help. I learned a lot of Spanish when I lived in NJ - but if there's someone more fluent that would be great.

Someone who speaks German, French, Dutch would also be great.

Thanks once again Maggie!! :o)

Yes---GERMAN would be great. Gladhand is going to go through eBay threads and see if she can find user names who were speaking German.

Anna from SUBAT was mentioning posting at the German boards, but without knowing ANY German, that would be a bit intimidating!!!! I wouldn't understand an ANSWER!!!!! :o)

But if we could set up the basic forum for them, get someone reasonably fluent to start topics, and offer to moderate, then post to boards for users---just even a small PRESENCE here would mean a lot. I really want this forum to be ALL INCLUSIVE. My parents spent their lives hosting foreign exchange students from all over the world. I'm sitting here trying to think of some of their many friends who might be able to help me....we'll come up with something---and maybe even just a small trial with Spanish would let us know whether it is a workable idea or not.

It's a bit mind-boggling, but pretty cool!!!

German

If there's a Luthern church near you, you will probably find a nice old German lady that will write down some things for you to start a forum with.

BTW Maggie---I'm FirmGrip/Laurel ---just signed in to my other account because I wanted to make sure some things were working properly---sometimes I can't tell as much from the administrator account, because I have access to EVERYTHING there.

:o)

This meeting really generated a LOT of interest---that is so good to see. Lots of traffic here tonight.
