VISIBILITY HELP FOR THIS FORUM-Adjustments & Options

Postby gladhand on Wed Apr 02, 2008 3:45 pm

EDITED NOTE FROM FIRM GRIP: Before trying this alternative, try the monitor adjustments suggested below. If you use the alternative, you will be requested not to post in colors, so that your posts will be visible by those of us using this design

MESSAGE FROM GLADHAND:

You have two options for how this forum looks to you. The default "skins" are those you see now: browns, beiges and woodtones-this is called CHRONICLES. The second option is light backgrounds and pastels, and is called NEVERWINTERNIGHTS.
Click your "Profile" at the top of any page and scroll down to "board style". Choose your preferred look there and click "submit". That's all there is to it![b]

There are a few problems if using the other option from Chronicles. You may find it extremely difficult to read messages that have been changed to WHITE type. All the others seem to be quite easy to read. If you have trouble reading the white type, just highlight the text.

ALSO, if you opt to use the alternative style, PLEASE do not post type using the orange or olive color options, or it will not be able to be read by users of the default style.

Here is a demonstration of how your orange text would look for the rest of us.

Here is a demonstration of how your olive test would look for the rest of us.

Violet is a bit difficult to read, as well.

Because there are two background shades on this forum, text would vary in legibility depending on which one your post landed on.

This is how olive would look

FAIR SHAKE VISIBILITY & EASE OF USE FOR ALL

Postby FirmGrip on Sun Apr 06, 2008 12:42 am

For anyone experiencing problems viewing this website because of the low contrast between some font colors and the background, here are some suggestions:

First, try adjusting the contrast and brightness of your monitor, either on the monitor itself, or through the control panel on your computer. In most cases, this will dramatically improve visibility.

Another thing you can do is try holding down the ctrl button on your keyboard while you press the "+" sign a time or two. This will usually increase the size of the type.

Unfortunately, I researched the possibility of changing the color of the default pale yellow on parts of this forum design, and it is not possible. I am trying to over-ride it wherever I can, which is why you see the darker colors in the various room descriptions. Hopefully this will have the side benefit of making the different rooms more subliminally memorable, as well.

If you continue to have problems with visibility, you can try changing the design style to the alternative in your profile, as discussed in another thread on this forum. If you do so, however, it would be best not to post in colors, as several of them would be difficult for those of us using this style to read. And in the other style, you may need to highlight those posts which have been made using a white font.

If anyone has any more issues or concerns about this, please don't hesitate to ask. We will do all we can to help--we want this to be a comfortable place for you to be!
